Immunofluorescence - Anti-CDK5 Mouse mAb [42M82M82]

Sample: HeLa cells

The cells were fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde (10 min), permeabilized with 0.5% Triton X-100 for 10 minutes and then blocked with 5% BSA in 0.1% PBS-Tween for 0.5 hours.

Primary antibody: M010131 at 1:100 dilution and and α-tubulin Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody (Cat. No. LF213) at 1:100 dilution

Secondary antibody: Goat anti-Mouse (488) at 1:1,000 dilution (shown in green) and Goat anti-Rabbit (555) at 1:1,000 dilution (shown in red)

Nuclei were stained with DAPI (shown in blue).

Background	This gene encodes a proline-directed serine/threonine kinase that is a member of the cyclin-dependent kinase family of proteins. Unlike other members of the family, the protein encoded by this gene does not directly control cell cycle regulation. Instead the protein, which is predominantly expressed at high levels in mammalian postmitotic central nervous system neurons, functions in diverse processes such as synaptic plasticity and neuronal migration through phosphorylation of proteins required for cytoskeletal organization, endocytosis and exocytosis, and apoptosis. In humans, an allelic variant of the gene that results in undetectable levels of the protein has been associated with lethal autosomal recessive lissencephaly-7.
